I get asked this a lot. And my answer is always the same “Not all the time.”
I am sure you have heard that you need to have a mountain at the back, it must be still & stable, etc.. But this is a generalisation.
If the water is fast moving is usually bad. Dirty water is usually bad. If there is a big drop or fall before the water, is also usually bad. But other than that, it has about just as much chance of being good for you as having the water in any other direction. Water becomes a Sha Qi (or “poison arrow”) only when it is unstable, aggresive and causes the energies around the property to be imbalanced. You also do not want the water flowing directly away from your home too quickly as it too will leak the Qi away.
If your home really is afflicted with this problem. Then do take note of the other Feng Shui aspects of your home. This form of Sha Qi tends to aggravate existing issues, causes further instability and usually loss of wealth.
